Carpal Tunnel Decompression post-op exercises

Day of Operation

Exercises

1. Make a full fist and then stretch your fingers out.

2. Touch your thumb to little finger.

3. Reach as high into the air as you can Do all of these 5 x per hour Keep your hand up when not exercising.

Day after Surgery

Remove your dressing and apply wrist splint (line with gauze if you wish). Wear this at night and during the day, for comfort. Continue exercises as above and start moving your wrist backwards and forwards gently. You can use your hand for light activities around the house.

One week after surgery

Remove splint for most of the day, except when lifting heavy objects. Continue to wear it at night for one more week. Increase the use of your hand steadily. Continue with exercises until the movement of the affected hand, is the same at the other one. Return to work as soon as possible.

I have no symptoms, they've gone, and I can do everything I could do before.
