Fillers

What type of fillers do you use?

There are fillers of various types but the safest ones contain just hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance and is completely absorbable in 9 - 12 months. The better known brands are Teosyal, Restylane, Puragen and they contain non animal source hyaluronic acid (NASHA).

Why do patients request treatment with fillers?

As a result of the ageing process there is a loss of volume in the face and also development of deep creases or fine lines. Patients request treatmentt with soft tissue fillers to soften these lines and give them a less 'severe' and more youthful look.

Are there any reasons to not have fillers?

Patients who are on blood thinning medications such as Aspirin or Warfarin or with an active infection are advised to not have fillers injected.

Are there any side effects or complications of having fillers?

Immediately after the injection there maybe slight bruising or swelling which usually settles in a few days. There may be minor asymmetry or slight lumpiness under the skin which usually settles within 6 - 8 weeks.

Six days later when the stitches were removed, the nose was slightly swollen and a bit red, but after a month everything was more or less back to normal. I couldn't be more satisfied and pleased with the whole procedure and result.
